These are whole, cleaned kernels of different grain types that are ‘puffed’ by adding steam, heat and pressure.
Easy kernels are toasted or roasted by us as either whole or coarsely-chopped/cracked kernels.

Classic, whole, cleaned kernels of different grain varieties sliced into 2-3 pieces.
Rolled kernels are whole, cleaned kernels of different grain types, lightly rolled to break the bran, allowing the kernel to be easily broken.
FLAKES AND GROATS
Fine or coarse – flakes give texture and taste to breakfast products and bread.
Our fine-rolled flakes are whole kernels that are steamed and then fine-rolled.
Groats of different grain types are whole kernels sliced into 2-3 pieces, steamed and then rolled.
Coarse-rolled flakes are whole kernels of grain that we first steam and then coarse-roll in our own mill.
Bran is the husk of grain kernels.
INCREASED USE IN ORGANIC YEAR BY YEAR
In 2021 around 21% of our grains was organic – a share that are more than triple in increase since 2013, making us one of Denmark’s largest producers of organic flour and oatmeal. In 2023, we aim to increase the share even further.
Grain is a natural product that is subject to the whims of nature. Therefore, the quality of the organic grain varies from year to year. To ensure the best grain for our flour, we work with selected farmers and their crops. Every year, we select which organic farmers will supply grain to Valsemøllen. By constantly collaborating with the very best Danish farmers, we ensure that we have enough grain and that the flour ultimately always has the right quality to bake with.
